150 YEARS OF HISTORY

In 2026, Colorado will celebrate its 150th anniversary—the same year as the nation’s 250th.

A pivotal part of this celebration is the creation of a new pedestrian walkway extending from the Colorado State Capitol Complex to Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park. The CO150 Walkway will allow people to cross Lincoln Street safely and accessibly, while also serving as a historic celebration of the state’s heritage and a vibrant, engaging experience for residents and visitors alike.

As a highly visible focal point, the walkway will become a lasting tribute to Colorado’s rich history, cultural diversity, and economic vitality. Its innovative design will incorporate public art throughout, weaving together the industries, stories, and cultures that have shaped the state. Industries and artists from across Colorado are invited to participate in this historic project. Through a public-private partnership, the CO150 Pedestrian Walkway offers a unique opportunity for industry and corporate sponsors to contribute to the state’s legacy by supporting installations that highlight economic contributions, cultural narratives, and civil rights milestones.

The CO150 Walkway will also serve as a platform for Colorado artists, with an emphasis on inclusive collaboration between community members, local creatives, and statewide partners. This project will not only honor the past—it will inspire future generations, reconnect the city and state through creative expression and innovative design, and help reinvigorate cultural landmarks such as the Greek Theater, Central Promenade, and the Denver Art Museum.
